Recap: Surry County Cougars vs. Sussex Central Tigers
Friday just wasn't the day for The Surry County Cougars''s offense. They had to suffer through a rough 52-0 loss at the hands of Sussex Central. Surry County has not had much luck with Sussex Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sussex Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Edward Birchett jr, who threw for 70 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Bivens, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Surry County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Sussex Central, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Surry County will head out on the road to face off against Altavista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Altavista will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Sussex Central will take on Cumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
