Basketball Recap: Lampasas Takes a Loss

If Lampasas was feeling good fresh off their 63-39 takedown of Burnet last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lampasas Badgers were outmatched by the Gateway College Preparatory Gators and fell 75-45. The Badgers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gators earlier this season, when they won 68-45.

Leading Gateway College Preparatory to victory were Travis Smith and Dallas Gurley. Smith dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards, while Gurley went 5-for-6 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Gurley a new career-high in field goal percentage (83%). Pierce Hammond was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Lampasas' loss dropped their record down to 24-9. As for Gateway College Preparatory, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lampasas will take on Gatesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gateway College Preparatory, they will square off against Connally at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway College Preparatory is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.
