Softball Game Preview: Handley Tigers vs. Reeltown Rebels

The Handley Tigers will head out to face off against the Reeltown Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Handley was the clear victor by a 20-5 margin over Talladega. The win continues a trend for Handley in their matchups with Talladega: they've now won seven in a row.

Rayna Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brynnley Lane was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Reeltown never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Loachapoka 18-0.

Kira Chappell and Lilli Johnston did most of the damage at the plate: Chappell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Johnston went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was Johnston's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Crisdan Dunn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Reeltown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Reeltown's record is now 5-12. As for Handley, they now have a winning record of 11-10-1.

Handley took their victory against Reeltown when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
