League recap: Bloom throws longest pass in league this season for Higley

Tyler Bloom and Trent Gilbert provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Yuma. The connection was good for 74 yards, the longest such play in III Section III this season.

ANTWUAN WARE of South Mountain ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Alhambra last week. WARE's team fell to the Lions as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 216 in all.

Dominic Orona put up the best numbers through the air as McClintock topped Hayden. He finished with a total of 6 completions for 196 yards and 4 touchdowns. Orona's favorite target this week was Kyree King, who caught 2 passes for 60 yards.

WARE was the most successful running back in the league this week. XAVYER ZEIGLER also contributed to the rushing game with 35 yards on the ground.

Bloom provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Higley topped the Criminals. He completed 12 passes for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 13 yards. Bloom's key target this week was Kole Hunter, who caught 5 passes for 116 yards.

Scott Merryman was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Knights bested Yuma. The 5-foot-8 player.

WARE was a beast in the backfield as South Mountain lost to Alhambra.

J.T. Nettleton was the best wideout in III Section III this week as Saguaro lost to Chaparral. Nettleton tallied 3 receptions for 112 yards. Christian Kirk helped Saguaro's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 77 yards.

He went 6-11 with 1 interceptions.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Higley's Bloom and Hunter have proven to be a lethal combination. Bloom has thrown for 374 yards this season, while Hunter, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 5 catches for 116 yards. Daryl Phillips' team's WARE leads the league in rushing yards with 295.

The Sabercats are currently in seventh, while the Jaguars are in sixth.

Eddy Zubey's team took down Curtis Weber's team 58-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bloom in the win.
