Softball Recap: Sachse Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Sachse's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Garland Owls 11-10. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-10 back in February.

Maya Mcclarity was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over ten innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-6. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jaycie Watson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alicia Payne, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Sachse kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Sachse has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Garland's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-1.

Sachse has already played their next matchup, a 9-4 win against Wylie on the 29th. As for Garland, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against South Garland at 6:30 p.m. South Garland has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.3 runs per game on average), something Garland will no doubt try to take advantage of.
