Basketball Recap: Angel Hernandez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woonsocket over Mt. Pleasant

Woonsocket was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost to the Mt. Pleasant Kilties on the road by a 58-39 margin. The Villa Novans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kilties apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Woonsocket lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Angel Hernandez, who posted 14 points. Hernandez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jans Aponte was another key player, putting up nine points.

Woonsocket's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Mt. Pleasant, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Woonsocket will face off against Rogers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
