Basketball Recap: Golden City Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Golden City Eagles were beaten by the Fordland Eagles 85-58. Golden City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Golden City had strong showings from Jamison Menadue, who posted 24 points and six steals, and Spencer Parrill, who put up 15 points and four steals. The contest was Menadue's third in a row with at least ten points. Braxyn Wirth was another key player, putting up five points.

Even though they lost, Golden City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Golden City's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Fordland, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Golden City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gloria Deo Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fordland, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Conway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fordland is facing Conway at the right time seeing as Conway is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
