Basketball Recap: Donyae Washington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pocomoke over Bennett

Pocomoke lost against Bennett last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pocomoke Warriors lost to the Bennett Clippers on the road by a 66-50 margin. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Clippers 21-10 in the first quarter.

Pocomoke lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Donyae Washington, who posted eight points in addition to 22 rebounds and seven assists. Washington has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 37 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alayah Thornton, who put up 13 points and seven assists.

Pocomoke has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Bennett, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Pocomoke won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Crisfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bennett, they are taking a road trip to face off against Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
