Athens is 2-8 against Marietta since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Athens Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Marietta Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Athens fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Nelsonville-York on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Buckeyes.

Meanwhile, Marietta entered their game against Monroe Central on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Marietta fell 65-52 to Monroe Central.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Marietta, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3.
