Softball Recap: Delmarva Christian Comes Up Short

Delmarva Christian had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Cape Henlopen Vikings, falling 10-2. The Royals were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Bella Marinelli was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Cape Henlopen, the win keeps they at an undefeated 13-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.1 runs this season.

On Cape Henlopen's side, Bri Windish was a standout: she fired off two home runs and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave Windish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Calciano, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Delmarva Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 19-2 defeat against North Dorchester on the 2nd. As for Cape Henlopen, they have also already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Early College on the 1st.
