Softball Game Preview: Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers vs. Horicon Marshmen

The Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers will challenge the Horicon Marshmen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cambria-Friesland will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Cambria-Friesland's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Randolph 13-0. Considering the Hilltoppers have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Enya Heller was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janell Villarreal, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Ashley Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Horicon fell victim to Mayville and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Cardinals. The Marshmen haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cambria-Friesland's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Horicon, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
