Volleyball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts.

Tori Barker paced Poway's offense, picking up eight kills. Barker got some help from Ella Bear and her 16 assists. Gracyn Gregg controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Mica Mountain was led to victory by ANNYCIA ARENAS and MIA PARKER. ARENAS had nine digs and two aces, while PARKER had three digs and two aces. AUBREY NECAS also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Mica Mountain, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 7-3.

Poway has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Scripps Ranch on the 17th. As for Mica Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Tucson High Magnet School on the 16th.
