Softball Recap: Stansbury Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stansbury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tooele Buffaloes 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Stallions have posted since May 10, 2024.

Stansbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Klairity Vargas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Maris Hess also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Stansbury's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Tooele, they moved to 5-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stansbury will square off against Grantsville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tooele, they will head out to challenge Mountain Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sentinels have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
