Baseball Recap: Warsaw Picks Up Ninth Straight Win on the Road

Warsaw was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against New Albany on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Bulldogs 8-2.

Reed Nelson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Warsaw let Wyatt Stapleton and Logan Kim run wild. Stapleton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Kim scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Kim a new career-high in RBI (two). Hunter Dippon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Warsaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Albany only posted a batting average of .208.

Warsaw pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warsaw will face off against Bellmont at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Albany, they will challenge Seymour at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Owls will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
