Taft is 2-8 against Mathis since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Taft will face off against Mathis at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Taft is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past West Oso 19-4 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Greyhounds, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Josette Aparicio was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Taft got a massive performance out of Juliana Alaniz, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ansleigh Soliz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Herrera has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Angelina Hernandez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Marivel Martinez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Mathis' record is now 9-6-1. As for Taft, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 12-7.
