Baseball Recap: De La Salle Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

De La Salle put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Foothill Falcons a 6-0 shutout. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Graham Schlicht, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Foothill off the board. Schlicht has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alec Blair, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Antonio Castro, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

De La Salle pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, they moved to 19-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither De La Salle nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
