Baseball Game Preview: DuPont Manual Crimsons vs. DeSales Colts

DuPont Manual has gone 8-1 against DeSales recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Crimsons are taking a road trip to face off against the Colts at 5:00 p.m. DuPont Manual will be strutting in after a win while DeSales will be coming in after a defeat.

DuPont Manual was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Male 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Julian Thurston looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, DuPont Manual saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Ballard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Ballard a new career-high. Kaden McCormick also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, DeSales didn't have quite enough to beat Canal Winchester on Saturday and fell 11-10.

DuPont Manual has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for DeSales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

DuPont Manual was able to grind out a solid win over DeSales when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimsons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
