Football Recap: Taz Kinghorn and Hudson Hodges Pace Baker County Defense

Baker County scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 25-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Coast Buccaneers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Baker County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Taz Kinghorn and Hudson Hodges. Kinghorn is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

First Coast can attribute much of their success to Kindred Heard, who picked up 91 receiving yards and one TD. Mahrle Moe made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

This is the second loss in a row for Baker County and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for First Coast, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Baker County will head out to challenge Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for First Coast, they will host Clay at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
