Baseball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

Maryvale started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Depew. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. The Flyers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Joseph Madden was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Altieri, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Maryvale's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Depew, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Maryvale will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Nichols at 5:00 p.m. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Flyers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Depew, they will head out to square off against Pioneer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
