Recap: Independence Falcons vs. Stockdale Mustangs
The Independence Falcons''s game on Thursday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Stockdale by a score of 21-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Independence in their matchups with Stockdale: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Independence had strong showings from Arturo Franco, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and Richard Gooden, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Stockdale was led to victory by Christian Dalton and Ben Spears. Dalton threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns, while Spears picked up 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Independence now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Stockdale, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will take on Bakersfield Christian at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Bakersfield Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Independence in California (Bakersfield Christian is ranked 214th, while Independence is ranked 487th). As for Stockdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garces Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
