Softball Recap: Madera Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Madera dropped their record down to 17-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Sanger Apaches, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Coyotes, who until this game were averaging 3.04 runs allowed.

Emily Erwin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Savana Cortez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Sanger, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Sanger's side, Amber Estrada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Audrey Ortiz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Arianah Cardoso was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Madera wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-4 victory against Redwood on the 16th. As for Sanger, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Clovis West on the 16th.
