Recap: St. Mary's Academy Crusaders vs. Wichita HomeSchool Warriors
If the St. Mary's Academy Crusaders were riding high off their 56-36 takedown of the Wichita Defenders HomeSchool Defenders last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Mary's Academy took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wichita HomeSchool. While losing is never fun, St. Mary's Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Wichita HomeSchool is ranked 110th).
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nick Whitehead, who scored 13 points along with six assists and five steals. Isaac Engholm was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
St. Mary's Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 15-7 record last season and are now at 5-9. As for Wichita HomeSchool, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Academy will take on Sunrise Christian Academy Silver at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sunrise Christian Academy Silver will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Wichita HomeSchool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoops for Christ at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
