Softball Recap: Central Beats Dodgeville for Their Seventh Straight Win

Central had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Dodgeville Dodgers. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kayla Storey looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ashlyn Nixon was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Savannah Sevier was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in nine consecutive games.

Central's win bumped their record up to 23-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to challenge Saint James at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dodgeville, they will head out to face off against Belleville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
