Baseball Recap: Rauner Beats UIC College Prep for Their Third Straight Victory

Rauner hadn't done well against UIC College Prep recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Firecats. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests in a row.

Rauner got a massive performance out of Andrew Anaya, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Anaya has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Andrew Shanley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs.

The win got Rauner back to even at 7-7. As for UIC College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4-1.

Rauner will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Firecats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
