Soccer Game Preview: Tuscaloosa County vs. Thompson

Tuscaloosa County is 0-10 against Thompson since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. Tuscaloosa County will head out on the road to square off against Thompson at 5:00 p.m.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Tuscaloosa County turned things around against Holt on Thursday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The outcome might've been different if Alex Thornburg hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Daniel Pablo and Samuel Lopez Moreno scored both of Tuscaloosa County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Thompson kept a clean sheet against Hillcrest last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Patriots. Given Thompson's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Hillcrest are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thompson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those eight matchups. Tuscaloosa County's draw gives them a new season record of 7-5-2.

Tuscaloosa County suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Thompson in their previous meeting on March 5th. Can Tuscaloosa County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
