Basketball Game Preview: Newcastle Bobcats vs. Garner Longhorns

The Newcastle Bobcats will head out to face off against the Garner Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Newcastle came up short against Bryson and fell 54-44. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Garner had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Throckmorton 48-26 on Tuesday. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Garner found their leader in sophomore Brayden Martinez, who posted 17 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juluis Crews, who put up five points and three steals.

Garner's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-11. As for Newcastle, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Everything went Newcastle's way against Garner when the teams last played on January 14th, as Newcastle made off with a 46-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newcastle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
