Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Silverdale Academy

Silverdale Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-5 on Monday.

Moxon Montieth tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Jonah Winton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Bennet Reagan, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Silverdale Academy pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Silverdale Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Fighting Irish: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
