Basketball Game Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Citrus Hurricanes

Hernando and Citrus are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Hernando Leopards will challenge the Citrus Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hernando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.

On Friday, Hernando needed a bit of extra time to put away Springstead. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 58-57 win over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

Sam Jackson was a one-man wrecking crew for Hernando as he went 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Jackson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Rivera, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Citrus took a blow against Dunnellon on Saturday, falling 94-45. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Hernando pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-21.

Hernando was able to grind out a solid win over Citrus in their previous matchup back in January, winning 70-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Citrus' Landon Hensley, who put up 16 points along with eight steals and seven blocks.
