Baseball Recap: Herscher's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Herscher extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 18-3 in the process. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Momence Momence Athletics. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Reed Laird tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Logan Egerton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Tanner Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Herscher hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Momence struck out 13 times.

As for Momence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Momence's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greyson Cantwell, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Herscher has already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Bradley-Bourbonnais on the 26th. As for Momence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Beecher on the 26th.
