Volleyball Recap: Gibraltar Takes a Loss

Gibraltar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They came up short against the Oconto Blue Devils, falling 3-0. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gibraltar took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.

Ella Clarke paced Gibraltar's offense, picking up six kills. Clarke got some help from Amelia Zoschke and her 11 assists. Isla Fagundes controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Oconto was led to victory by Sam McDowell and Braiya Wusterbarth. McDowell had 14 digs and two aces, while Wusterbarth had seven digs and three aces. That's the most digs McDowell has posted over her last eight contests. Maddi Vieau also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Gibraltar's defeat dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Oconto, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-7.

Gibraltar has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran on the 16th. As for Oconto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Algoma on the 16th.
