Softball Recap: Port St. Lucie Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Port St. Lucie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-16 win over the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their two-run performance the match before.

Mia Torres was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawna Caswell, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Port St. Lucie's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8-1. As for Lincoln Park Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-10-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Port St. Lucie will venture away from home to challenge Master's Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 13.8 runs per game this season. As for Lincoln Park Academy, they will host Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greyhounds are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
