Basketball Recap: Raymondville Extends Winning Streak to Four

Raymondville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Spartans on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Bearkats, who have now won four matches in a row.

Colt Cavazos was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on his way to 38 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Tamez, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Damian Cantu, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 23 points. Gilardo Perez was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Raymondville's victory bumped their record up to 21-9. As for Vanguard Academy Rembrandt, they moved to 21-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Raymondville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 81-50 loss against London on the 20th. Vanguard Academy Rembrandt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
