Basketball Recap: Atkins Falls Despite Big Games from Amanda Worrell and Sanaa Puryear

Atkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 59-33 to the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Camels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-20 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Atkins had strong showings from Sanaa Puryear, who went 6 of 9 en route to 15 points and four steals, and Amanda Worrell, who posted seven points and six boards.

Atkins' loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Ben L. Smith, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Atkins didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-12 defeat against Dudley on the 28th. Ben L. Smith has also already played their next game, a 63-13 win against High Point Central on the 27th.
