Basketball Recap: Beaver Local Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

On Saturday, the Beaver Local Beavers earned a 65-54 win over the Hubbard Eagles. Given the Beavers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Eagles are ranked 619th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Owen Hill was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rettos, who posted eight points along with ten boards and six assists.

Despite the loss, Hubbard had strong showings from Kyle Barr, who put up 25 points and eight rebounds, and Jakob Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kenyen Franklin, who had nine points.

Beaver Local has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Hubbard, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Beaver Local didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-62 victory against East Liverpool on the 23rd. As for Hubbard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-57 win against McKinley on the 24th.
