Recap: St. Francis vs. Canisius
On Saturday, Canisius came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Francis, sneaking past 25-22. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
No one put up better numbers for Canisius than senior Joel Nicholas, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 210 yards and 1 touchdown. If you haven't heard Nicholas's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games. The Canisius defense stepped up as well to lay out the quarterback four times.
The win got Canisius back to even at 4-4. St. Francis are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Canisius will look to defend their home turf next week against Cardinal O'Hara at 1:00 PM. Canisius are catching Cardinal O'Hara at a good time: Cardinal O'Hara have scored fewer and fewer points over their past three games. St. Francis will be playing at home against Bishop Timon-St. Jude at at 7:00 PM.
