Baseball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short

Hammond came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls, falling 14-1.

Hammond saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donald Weber, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hammond has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season. As for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, their record now sits at 13-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will face off against Ponchatoula at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, they will take on Pope John Paul II at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Swamp Owls' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
