Basketball Recap: Make It 17 in a Row for Smithville

Smithville put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They escaped with a win against the Wright City Lumberjax by the margin of a single free throw, 67-66. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-50 on January 7th.

Wright City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Miller, who went 7 for 13 en route to 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mia Reich, who posted 19 points and five assists.

Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 17-0. As for Wright City, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Smithville and Wright City should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. Smithville will face off against Leflore at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 357 places (58 vs. 415). Smithville is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road. Similarly, Wright City (ranked 210th) will meet Antlers (ranked 428th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
