Baseball Game Preview: La Grande Tigers vs. McLoughlin Pioneers

La Grande is a perfect 10-0 against McLoughlin since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Friday just wasn't the day for La Grande's offense. They lost 12-0 to Pendleton on Friday. The Tigers have struggled against the Buckaroos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between McLoughlin and Baker/Powder Valley, and Baker/Powder Valley kept the tradition alive. The Pioneers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 15-14 on Tuesday.

La Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for McLoughlin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

La Grande took their victory against McLoughlin when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
