Softball Recap: Sharpsville Blue Devils vs. Jamestown Muskies
Sharpsville dropped their record down to 9-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Jamestown Muskies, falling 11-1. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Muskies from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.
Sharpsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzie Candiotti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Jamestown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4. Considering they have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Jamestown's side, Miranda Biles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Biles has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Alayna Cadman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camilla Cox, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Looking ahead, Sharpsville will venture away from home to take on Meadville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jamestown, they will square off against Oil City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Muskies are facing the Oilers at the right time seeing as the Oilers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
