Basketball Recap: North Davidson Falls Despite Big Games from Cali Cooper and Bryton Zimmerman

North Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The matchup between them and the Parkland Mustangs didn't end well, with the North Davidson Black Knights falling 58-42. The Black Knights were down 49-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

North Davidson's loss came despite strong showings from Bryton Zimmerman and Cali Cooper. Zimmerman went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Cooper posted nine points and five assists. Those five assists gave Cooper a new career-high. Abby Sawyers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: North Davidson was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland only posted three assists.

Parkland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Asia Blackwell out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Blackwell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Kimora Brooks was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven boards and five steals.

North Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Parkland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Salisbury the next time they take the court. Parkland will head out to face Salisbury at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while North Davidson will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
