Volleyball Recap: Holmes County Comes Up Short

Holmes County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Walton Braves, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-12, 25-19.

Holmes County's offense was headlined by Brogan Beall and Kinley Kirkland, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Alleena Koenig and her six assists. Brenlee Jones controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Among those leading the charge was Lila Rice, who had ten digs. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Bailey Cole also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Holmes County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Walton, with the victory, they broke their six-match losing streak and moved their record to 4-13.

Holmes County has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Bethlehem on the 30th. As for Walton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Pensacola Catholic on the 29th.
