Baseball Game Preview: South Laurel Cardinals vs. North Laurel Jaguars

For the second straight game, South Laurel will face off against North Laurel. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Laurel has five straight wins, North Laurel has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was a classic North v. South duel when South Laurel challenged North Laurel on Thursday. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jaguars, sneaking past 5-3.

Keaton Creech made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Waylon Hensley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Reece Noble was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

South Laurel's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Laurel, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
