Softball Preview: Peninsula Panthers vs. Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves

The Peninsula Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Peninsula, who comes in off a win.

Peninsula's tournament run continued when they took on King/Drew on Wednesday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 6-4.

Peninsula got a great performance from Angel Wang as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit.

At the plate, Emily Gonzalez was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Hailey Lang, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Peninsula was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wiseburn- Da Vinci came up short against Mira Costa on Wednesday and fell 11-7.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lelina Hoffman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Vanessa Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci dropped their record down to 7-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Peninsula, their record is now 7-11.

Peninsula was able to grind out a solid win over Wiseburn- Da Vinci when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 6-3.
