Softball Recap: Northeastern Comes Up Short

After soaring to 17 runs the game before, Northeastern was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of the Riverside Pirates by a score of 3-2. The Jets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Northeastern saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laney Phillips, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Northeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Riverside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will square off against Madison Plains at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will challenge Lehman Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
