Volleyball Recap: Shady Spring Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with University

Shady Spring faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Reagan Mann paced Shady Spring's offense, picking up seven kills. Mann got some help from Bryanna Shrewsberry and her ten assists. Mann was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Lucy Johnson was the offensive standout of the match as she had 14 digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last 12 contests.

Shady Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-1. As for University, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2-2.

Shady Spring didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Cabell Midland on the 6th. As for University, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Spring Valley on the 6th.
