Saguaro piles up the points against Marcos de Niza

Recap: Saguaro Sabercats vs. Marcos de Niza Padres

The Saguaro Sabercats posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They breezed by Marcos de Niza on the road to the tune of 67-39. For Saguaro, this counts as revenge for the 80-67 defeat Marcos de Niza walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Saguaro was led to victory by Justice Hinds and Joe Miller. Hinds scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Miller dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Hinds is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nashoba Redhouse, who scored ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Marcos de Niza lost, one person who can't be blamed is James Steward. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Steward has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Myrie Drew was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.

Saguaro's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Marcos de Niza, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-11.

Saguaro will take on Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 65.2 so far this season, Mesquite's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Saguaro better be ready for a challenge. As for Marcos de Niza, they will head out on the road to challenge Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
