East Chapel Hill hasn't had much luck against Northern Durham recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will welcome the Knights at 5:00 p.m. East Chapel Hill is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
It was a proper cat-fight when East Chapel Hill duked it out with Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kay Silver was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Esha Kamath, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Northern Durham and Jordan have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Knights lost 15-4 to the Falcons.
AnnaClaire Spell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Roxy Nelson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
East Chapel Hill pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Northern Durham, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Northern Durham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Chapel Hill has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Northern Durham, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given East Chapel Hill's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
