Basketball Game Preview: Shoals Jug Rox vs. Dugger Union Bulldogs

Shoals is on a three-game streak of home losses, Dugger Union a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Shoals Jug Rox will host the Dugger Union Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Saturday, Shoals had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of Wood Memorial. While losing is never fun, the Jug Rox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Trojans are ranked 121st).

Meanwhile, Dugger Union came up short against Martinsville on Saturday and fell 43-30.

Shoals will need focus on slowing down Sage Stahl, one of several Dugger Union players who made an impact when they last played. She posted six points in addition to 15 boards and three steals. Stahl has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Smith, who earned 11 points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Dugger Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Dugger Union's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Shoals, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Everything came up roses for Shoals against Dugger Union when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 73-23 victory. In that contest, Shoals amassed a halftime lead of 30-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
