Softball Recap: Chowchilla Has No Trouble Against Mariposa County

Chowchilla had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Mariposa County on Friday. Everything went the Chowchilla Tribe's way against the Mariposa County Grizzlies as the Chowchilla Tribe made off with a 12-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tribe also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Heaven Moore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Tomlinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Oberti, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Chowchilla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mariposa County only posted an OBP of .375.

Chowchilla's record now sits at 2-0. As for Mariposa County, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Chowchilla has already played their next contest, a 9-8 victory against Los Banos on the 4th. As for Mariposa County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-6 defeat against Hilmar on the 4th.
