Basketball Recap: Wausa Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Olivia Barta and Taylor Dawson

Wausa was the 39-30 winner over Bloomfield when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wausa Vikings fell 43-35 to the Bloomfield Bees on Tuesday. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bees 15-11 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Wausa had strong showings from Taylor Dawson, who went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals, and Olivia Barta, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and five assists. Dawson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played.

Leading Bloomfield to victory were Madyson Mlady and Avery Bargman. Mlady dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards, while Bargman scored 13 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mlady has scored at least a third of Bloomfield's points. Kysa Loecker also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Wausa now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Bloomfield, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Wausa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-31 defeat against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on the 30th. As for Bloomfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-28 loss against Stanton on the 30th.
